Ethelred’s Throne
Fit For A King!
Our talented craftsmen are currently working on a project for Mid Sussex District Council. This particular project was themed after King Ethelred II, who reputedly had links with surrounding the village. One of the design brief specifications was to produce a large throne, this would provide a child somewhere to quietly reflect or play King of the castle. Our design team incorporated imagery related to King Ethelred including his coat of arms and his sword (depicted in the ‘History of the Church of Abingdon’ see below).
We are thrilled with how the throne turned out, however it isn’t quite finished yet. We will be retrofitting a 1970’s Wicksteed cast iron horse head from the original play equipment to adorn the top of the throne.
