The Big Parks Project Board comprised of Lewes District Council, Peacehaven Town Council, East Sussex County Council, REGEN – Peacehaven & Telscombe Regeneration Partnership and Peacehaven Community School make key decisions for the project, the day to day project management is carried out by Lewes District Council Financial contributions from Southern Water and two Bovis housing developments have provided £2 million for outdoor recreation and leisure facilities in Peacehaven.
Following an extensive public consultation in 2011, a Masterplan has been drawn up for the Park by landscape architects Allen Scott Ltd and architects Kaner Olette. The plan includes improved sports facilities, a central activity hub with cafe, and open space and recreation areas suitable for all sections of the community.
The park is of significant archaeological interest and is part of the largest area of archaeological investigation in the South of England. Additionally the park adjoins the South Downs National Park and will provide a gateway to exploring the wider countryside
Here are some images of the Big Park Project:
The new park boundaries are between the wastewater plant in the north, the existing Piddinghoe Sports Park in the south, Cissbury Avenue in the east and Peacehaven Community School playing fields in the west. It is half a mile (860m) from one end to the other and 1½ miles (2400m) around the perimeter. It will take around 30 minutes to walk around at a leisurely pace
